Been gone for a little while now...

..And I've returned triumphantly!

Sorry for the delay between posts, blogland. I've been busy with work and class, so that leaves me with little time to post!

However, as a special update, I'd like to tell all PC nerds out there that I've finished a new build! Wewt!

Santa arrived early to me this year, as I put together my i7 build, bit by bit.

I'll skip my personal rigamarole about choices and/or reasons, and get right to the meat and potatoes.

Album Review: Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

Happy Thursday Blogland! One day closer to the ever-sweet weekend. :]

Today's post is in the form of an informal album review, for French rockers Phoenix's 2009 release - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. Consider this posting as a pre-release review, as the album is due for formal release in the States March 26th, 2009.

The album starts with the buttery groove, Lisztomania. A feet stompin', make you clap your hands homage to Hungarian composer Franz Liszt. Ironically, this tune features none of Liszt's virtuoso piano work, but is still a pleasure to groove to. The album next blends to jam 1901, another simiarly upbeat jam featuring Phoenix frontman Mars's usual ambigious lyrical delivery. The remaining tracks are not quite as inspiring as the two openers, but still engaging. The guys seem to have transcended back to their instrumental ways, as found in their 2006 album Its Never Been Like That.

Unfortunately, this album isn't as initially engaging as their previous, its still a fun ride through a delicately crafted aural soundscape. I suspect that after a few listens I'll be as enamored with it as their previous - and would still recommend it to any Phoenix fans, or someone looking for a disco-esque groovin' rock soundtrack that'll suit a trip to the beach or night out for drinks and dancing equally well.

Hopefully this album precursors a tour to the States. :]

The 0th Blog

Hello, world.

Welcome to my ever humble and newly christened blog about the random musings of a (usually) lucid mind. This is my first blog, so I will have to offer pre-apology for my lack of formatting talents or overall interesting subjects.

Any helpful suggestions and criticisms are more than welcome, and always appreciated.

So, for my first blog I felt behooved to discuss an quasi-interesting issue I experienced yesterday with attempting to take part in Google's mobile blogging feature. Essentially, you can send a text to a blog email address (go@blogger.com), and your items will automatically publish. Now, I'm not sure if this failed utterly because my phone hasn't been integrated or activated for this blog feature...its really moot at this point as I don't intend to blog direct from my G1 all that often anyway...but nonetheless led me with a minor bone to pick.

In any event, here's the missed blog post: "Behold, the power of mobile blogging while waiting for a Rockabilly band to setup. Last group was decent, but I didn't catch their name."

So last night, during a haze of alcohol induced lucidity, technology let me down. Fortunately, the atmosphere of the show and happy-go-lucky audience made up for this in droves.
